Mooch Artisan

We have an especially posh range for those among us with a taste for the finer things. It's our exclusive handcrafted range that's bound to dazzle the fancy pants off anyone with an eye (and pocket) for style.

Jokes aside, this range really came about from our desire to create a more sustainable range of beautiful conversation pieces supporting a circular economy. They're designed for people who embrace these values and who enjoy buying impactful items for their spaces.

The Story of Our
Cushions

We are from 3 different locations, so putting each cushion together takes an extraordinary amount of time. But I think the combined effort and skill creates such a beautiful, rich and textured story in each piece."

Our cushions are a collaboration  between three artists. Nokwandiso, from Hamburg is an expert embroiderer. Cebo, is an artist and the manager at Kieskamma Art Project in East London and Nici is the owner and designer at Mooch, in Salt Rock.

The fabric used in the embroidered part of the cushions has been taken from off cuts from nearby factories. The backing fabric is dyed in KwaZulu Natal using botanical extracts that are completely natural. In additional to that the cushion inner is made from recycled cotton collected from factory floors. Each cushion is finally sewn up with love in a small factory in Ballito.

The proceeds from the sale of each cushion is divided equally between the 3 artists.

If our artisan cushions are sold on our website.
